Description
This year, Sigma ventures outdoor into Esplanade Park for their new work by artistic director Hong Guofeng and independent artist Christina Chan in collaboration with composer/ musician Redwan Hamzah and the dancers of Sigma.

Set on the stepped waterfront plaza against the backdrop of the Esplanade, Marina Bay Sands and the Central Business District, the performance combines the use of existing structural elements against Singapore’s city skyline and live music to transform the public space into a casual outdoor theatre.

vessels
of flesh and wood,
lost to metal and fire,
lost to rains and winds.

to yesterday,
to years,

so that our bones
may watch tomorrow.

but we’re ashore.
a huddle of hands
and hearts.

we’re home.

-JL (Singapore)

This work draws inspiration from the early immigrants of Singapore, in search of greener pastures and the subsequent decision to make this place their home. As we look back at history, we also look forward and question what it means to live in a different era but with the same hopes and dreams. Themes of individualism and community, temporal and permanence, drifting and settling are explored in this work.

How to get there:
Take train or bus to Cityhall MRT or Esplanade Theatre and walk about 5 min to performance location.
Take buses 100, 107, 130, 131, 131A, 167, 75 to bus stop #02029 - Connaught Dr, Opp S'pore Cricket Club.
